It’s a pleasure to support the Neurological and Complex Care Awards this year. Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition with over 40 different symptoms which makes caring for a person with Parkinson’s complex. Each individual’s symptoms can change over time as the condition progresses, this requires those who care for them to understand how this affects their care and treatment plans.
Through the Parkinson’s UK Excellence Network, we champion learning and education for health and care professionals which is why we are sponsoring the category of ‘Exceptional Training and Development Program Award’. This recognises and rewards excellent training and development to improve care and support, demonstrating the impact this can have on colleagues and patients.
Via the Excellence Network, Parkinson’s UK provides a comprehensive range of online courses, programmes and resources. In making these available, the charity seeks to upskill those professionals who care for people living with Parkinson’s.
We also encourage learners to articulate and share improvements in practice they have made as a result of going through our courses and other education programmes. As such, professional education plays a pivotal role in the charity’s aim to improve the lives of people with Parkinson’s.
I look forward to celebrating the dedication and commitment of health and social care professionals working in neurological and complex care.
